Impact of Disobedience of Court Orders on the Right to Adequate Housing

The COVID 19 Pandemic has had a great impact on the social-economic landscape which has had an unprecedented impact on the access to justice and the right to adequate housing. In the last 30 days, we have seen unprecedented levels of evictions leaving thousands homeless.
In Kariobangi, the community was evicted despite an existing court order, the same case as Ruai and Korogocho market. The evictions leave families destitute with loss of livelihoods but it also portrays a failed justice system where court orders and the rule of law is not followed.
Hakijamii hereby invites you to a Webinar as captioned to discuss the gaps and opportunities in the protection of the right to adequate housing attributed to the disobedience to court orders. The intention is to highlight the Human Rights violations as a result of ignorance of the court process by duty bearers leading up to the forced eviction and demolitions that have increased during the pandemic.
Hakijamii shall host and moderate the Webinar bit.ly/HakiJamii in collaboration with Lawyers Hub on Wednesday the 27th day of May 2020 from 2pm-4pm and we shall appreciate your participation and invaluable contribution to the discourse.
Kindly confirm your attendance by registration by following bit.ly/HakiJamii.
