World Habitat Day 2019 celebrations in Mombasa County

Ms Pauline Vata and Dr. Steve Ouma discuss the theme of World Habitat Day 2019 in Mombasa County.

Ms. Pauline Vata points out inadequate public participation and lack of essential agreements on how Urban Renewal should happen as some of the main challenges facing the implementation of housing policies in Kenya.

“80% of low income people in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu can’t get access to adequate housing and the essence of the World Habitat Day 2019 was both to reflect on the situation and do a platform of action. The conference today is about what kind of actions can we deploy,” said Dr. Steve Ouma during the interview in Mombasa.

Economic and Social Rights Center (Hakijamii) launched its State of Housing Report 2nd Edition which will be available for your reading soon.
