Hakijamii held a training with an attempt to create demand for good health sector governance, effective participation and increased demand for accountability from citizens through socially driven methods and activities. Analysis of county budgets on the health sector show that more financial resources are injected to advance health care annually. This, however, is not the reality on the ground. Citizens continue to suffer as a result of the lack of essential commodities and drugs, increased out of pocket spending and poor quality services.
It is with this that Hakijamii held a training to provoke demand for good governance from the communities to demand their health rights through participation and prioritization at the county level. The participants in the workshop were from the network members. Thes include CSOs, CBOs, FBOs, youth groups, women groups and persons living with disabilities groups.
Through the training, members learned that the County of Mombasa is receptive and willing to work with CSOs in addressing the health sector governance issues and that the health network in Mombasa County has gained momentum and established itself.
