COUNTY ASSEMBLY PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FORUM HELD AT RAMISI WARD TO DISCUSS AND ENDORSE THE RAMISI WARD PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The meeting was attended by:

  • Members of the Kwale county budget committee
  • Ramisi ward village administrator
  • Village administrators
  • Msambweni sub-county administrator
  • Members of different CSOs
  • Ramisi ward community
  • Nguluku,Bwiti,Vumbu, Bumamani and Miembeni affected farmers

The following areas were touched on:

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE LIVESTOCK AND FISHERIES

This department was allocated Ksh. 6,100,000. Members of the community adopted the proposed development project and their allocations with the following proposals that the construction and rehabilitation of cattle dips should be done at:

  • Mafisini
  • Fingirika
  • Nyumba sita.

EDUCATION RESEARCH AND HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

This department was awarded Ksh.43,126,689.89.

The issue of youth polytechnics also brought a bitter point for discussion. A Ramisi ward representative wanted to know who short changed the proposed site for construction of a youth polytechnic from Nyumba sita as earlier planned to Mwaembe where the county engineer had rejected the site.

MEDICAL AND PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES

This department was allocated Ksh.21, 000,000.00.

Members of the community agreed that the allocation for the construction of a main drug store for Msambweni referral hospital be transferred to Nyumba sita and Vidungeni respectively for the construction of ECDEs.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND PUBLIC WORKS

This was awarded Ksh.17,100,000.00

Members of the community of Ramisi ward agreed that the money allocated for patch work and overlay of Msambweni Hospital road be transferred to patching and overlay of the same road.

Members also agreed that the construction of drifts should be done at:

  • Madafuni
  • Vidungeni
  • Mbuyuni
  • Nzovuni area

Through the awareness creation, capacity building of the community on access to basic services and budget process by HAKI JAMII and awareness on benefit sharing, members of the community who were directly affected by the mining activities around the areas of Nguluku, Bwiti, Bumamani, Miembeni and Vumbu. HAKIJAMII made a very tremendous contribution in this forums for supporting them to attend this forums. So through their presence and participation Nguluku area benefited with three projects as follows:

  • Cattle dip in Fingirika
  • Dispensary in Fingirika
  • Crushes in Fingirika
